Hypha is a product that allows friends and family to connect to and through field recordings in the form of intimate sound-memos. The system consists of two ritual objects that encourage us to be present in the moment, and reflect on past experiences through soundscapes.

Over a three week period our team of interaction and industrial designers collaborated to develop a product concept that proposes a vision for a new kind of being together through technology. An intimate mode, where simple environmental sound carries context and emotion to loved ones, keeping them in the loop through a ritualistic gesture.
This project allowed for the exploration of sound as central part of captivating experience. I took on the task of meticulously crafting these sounds, to achieve our collective vision. Use the soundboard to hear the sound for yourself ;)
The home unit is located at home, likely on a coffee table or a desk. It is used for listening received sounds and listening to the weekly reflection. To reflect a sense of calmth, meditation and trust, the Home unit speaks in low, natural sounds, sampled from woody instruments such as an upright bass and hand drums.
The recorder is used on the go, and therefore has a more active character; an excited daily companion. It chirps in clear, gliding sounds digitally synthesised from mallets hitting things and sine waves.
This project pursued an artistic vision towards ambiguous ways of making sense of the world. During a weekly reflective diary the home unit shows mesmerizing abstract visualisations generated from data gathered by the user's wearables ombined with a mixtape of the week's recorded and received sounds this becomes an audio-visual spectacle.
